Google's Summer Swing Party

Royal Opera House | July 2015

WONDER was honored with the task of celebrating Google UK's first Summer Party in five years; bringing The Great Gatsby theme to life for up to 1600 guests. Of the venues shortlisted, Google chose the prestigious Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

Working with Google's in-house team, we began crafting a solution that would feel at home in the famed glass auditorium, that was in keeping with the 1920's theme and that would work within the restraints of the budget set. We suspended a number of five meter chandeliers from the ceiling, dripping with ivy, orchids and gold palms. And designed and produced a stunning gold art deco stage plus a circular, central feature bar. To finish off the decor we set surfaces with grand floral centerpieces.

WONDER worked closely with the venue's caterers to provide a food and drink offering that tied in with the theme. We sourced Swing Bands and DJ’s to raise the roof, and worked closely with Google’s Managing Director, Eileen Naughton to oversee the evening's introductions. A fancy dress competition added extra glitz and a competitive spirit to the evening.

WONDER managed every element of the party, including creative direction, technical production, graphic design, print, logistics and staffing. During the event we took care of registration, show production and crowd management. The evening proved a huge success, with the majority of guests arriving fancy-dressed to the nines, swinging on the dance floor until the very last minute.
